Recently, Good Will Hunting star, Matt Damon, picked chicken tikka and stuffed naan in an interview where he was asked about his favourite food. He went on to say, I have been to India twice and each time I tried some different local cuisine. I loved all of them. And Matt is not alone. There is a bandwagon of Hollywood stars who love Desi food. Here are a few of them.


In one of the pre-BAFTA parties, the couple was seen heading straight to the Indian food counters. In an interview to the Times of India, Pitt talked about his love for Indian food, especially, chicken tikka masala, dal and naan. "Angie and I do visit Indian restaurants in the US whenever we get time. Even our kids are fond of Indian food," he said.


Julia Roberts loves feasting on rice, chappati, aloo-gobi and kadhai paneer. In fact, while shooting for the film Eat Pray Love, the star took everyone by surprise with her love for desi cuisine. Julia is known to be experimental when it comes to food and in India she gave her taste buds a plethora of experiences.


Lady Gaga's craze for South Asian food took Hollywood by storm. The singer ate hot curries thrice a day for a month and stopped only when her managers intervened. A die-hard fan of chicken lababdar, Gaga reportedly is a devotee of spicy curries. When she was losing weight for one of her music videos, she had to give up eating curries for a while. "The day I was done with diet, I was back to eating chicken butter masala for a while," she said in her TV interview.


In an interview last year, Madonna revealed that she has learned to satisfy her carb craving while dieting by eating South Indian food. "On my visit to India, I had learnt how idlis could help you in losing weight and also take care of your carb cravings. I love Indian food because of their magical aroma. I distinctly like the smell of fresh coriander in the curries," she said.


Tom's desire with Indian food landed him in a fix. While shooting for "All You Need is Kill" in London, Cruise had cravings for Indian lobster and chicken tikka. He went to the closest Indian restaurant and ate to his heart's content.

He received a bill for 220.85 pounds, which he was unable to pay because he was carrying only dollars and the restaurant did not accept credit card. A co-star had to come to his rescue.


Shakira's appetite for Afghani chicken and mutton masala has seen her hoping restaurants in India. Interestingly, Shakira was introduced to Desi food by her partner, the Spanish footballer, Gerard Pique. The couple is said to gorge on goat pichoutas and chicken tikkas on their outings.

While her partner stays away from desserts, Shakira is reportedly fond of Rasmalai and Gajar ka halwa.
